Purchasing Specialist

Division/Department: Operations Department

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle all the purchasing processes and decisions for a business while adhering to an assigned budget
  • Keep track of all records and data as they pertain to company purchases and bids submitted to vendors
  • Negotiate with various vendors to ensure the organization receives a fair price for goods and services
  • Make bids for goods and services on behalf of the organization
  • Keep records, which may be kept in paper files or maintained in a computer database, or both
  • Keep our invoices, purchase orders and bidding contracts
  • Prepare monthly reports
  • Must not exceed set budget limits and must assure that all purchasing procedures are adhered to
  • Work closely with finance staff to make sure the budgets allow for the purchase of required items and services
  • Cultivate relationships with multiple vendors

Job Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Good knowledge of PC software applications
